Bachelor's theses and master's theses

We are constantly offering exciting topics for theses (Bachelor's/Master's theses). The topics are based on the research areas of the working group, in particular

  • Energy-efficient data processing
  • Data processing on modern, heterogeneous architectures (e.g. low-power processors, graphics processors, FPGAs)
  • Co-design of database and operating system
  • Modern memory technologies (e.g. non-volatile memory, SSDs)
  • Optimization and compilation of database queries
  • Data processing on very large amounts of data

Are you interested in one or more of these topics?

Get in touch if you also...

  • ...are interested in how modern database management systems work.
  • ...want to investigate how modern and unusual hardware can be used efficiently in a database context.
  • ...do not shy away from getting to know hardware-related programming languages (C/C++, Assembler,...), hardware description languages (VHDL, Verilog,...) or new software.
  • ...enjoyed the courses Information Systems and/or Data Warehousing or Architecture and Implementation of DBMS and/or Data Processing on Modern Hardware.
  • ...can act on your own initiative and work independently.

Supervision capacities

Unfortunately, our supervision capacities are limited and we always have to turn away inquiring students and/or put them off until later semesters. We therefore give priority to those students who can convince us of their interest. We therefore recommend that you

  • Take a look around our websites and think about which of our topics are of particular interest to you.
  • Make it clear why you would like to write your thesis with us, why you think you are particularly suitable and in which subject area you are particularly interested.
