Project Group 614 “Intelligent Storage Systems” wins P5 Award

Project Group 614 “Intelligent Storage Systems”, organized by the DBIS Group, eins this year's P5 Award. The P5 Award is awarded by the “Alumni der Informatik der TU Dortmund” and given to the awardees every year at the “Dortmunder Alumni-Tag” (DAT).
The DBIS Group congratulates all participating students that won this award thanks to their hard and continuous work!

Project Group 614 “Intelligent Storage Systems”, organized by the DBIS Group at TU Dortmund University, wins this year's P5 Competition. The P5 Award is awarded by the “Alumni der Informatik der TU Dortmund” and given to the winners every year in the context of the “Dortmunder Alumni-Tag” (DAT).

The concept of “Intelligent Storage Systems” is gaining huge momentum, particularly in industrial scenarios. Classical database architectures often can no longer cope with the growing data volumes seen in real applications today. A promising strategy, therefore, is to enrich storage media with local compute capacity. By filtering and/or pre-aggregating data close to the data source (by utilizing the local compute capacity), significant scalability advantages can be gained. The results of the project group demonstrate this in an impressive way.

This project group was advised by Thomas Lindemann from the DBIS Group..
